Far from the Center is an itinerary of open studios, screenings and performances, imagined by the artists-in-residence Anti Gonna, Yana Bachynska and Nikolay Karabinovych in dialogue with the collective Beyond the post-soviet. What does it mean to be in Paris at a time when the country you come from is defending itself in a war? Despite the security and a certain comfort offered by the center of the former empire, everything here seems upside down. The new reality is out of step with the lived experience. Life with and at the war continues, but now in the new conditions of calm and sumptuous Paris. Two different realities collide in one place and in one body. Schizophrenic duality. No chance to breathe out in peace. No time to heal. The world outside is behind glass, like someone else’s movie. Feelings of gratitude and guilt mix, while the future is happening somewhere far away.
